It is hard to imagine any special event without a video
recording. It is such a popular part of weddings that it is hard to
imagine one without a video recording. People love to view videos of
themselves and their loved ones. There is not reason not to have a
video recording of your wedding.
Some may think that having a video of their would require putting up
with the annoyance of being followed by a camera all day long. But
having a videographer should be part of the fun. Professional
videographers should be able to work around you without inconveniencing
you. If you want a low-key fly on the wall kind of videographer, make
sure you talk about it during the hiring process.
Ask your recently married friends, and family members to recommend a videographer. If you work with a planner, she should be able to make recommendations for you. You should hire the videographer 6 months to a year prior to the wedding. Experienced videographers get booked early, so make sure you don’t leave this task to the last minute. If your is scheduled for a Saturday during the peak season, you are competing with many brides for the same videographer.
You should meet with at least three videographers. Don’t hire the first one, even if you don’t think you can find a better person for the job. Give yourself a chance to meet with multiple professionals before you make a decision. Ask for sample work to make sure you like the style of the videographer. You can watch for camera movement, background music, lighting, and get an overall feel for what to expect from the videographer.
Ask for references. References should be checked, always. Call and ask about professionalism, timeliness, customer service, or everything that is important to you.
Once you have made a decision about who to hire, make sure to get all the details in writing. A written contract is important, and it protects both parties. Make sure the date and time, location, what exactly included, and such essential information is part of the contract. Request a spare camera, you don’t want equipment malfunction to derail video recording.
