Six to twelve months before
Similar to other weddings, you will need to set a date for your
destination wedding. Besides, you will also need to consider the theme.
This is very important because you need to choose the location as well
and the theme will probably affect your choice of location. The
accommodation and all the legal requirements should also be asked.
You will also need to announce your wedding. For a more traditional one, you may choose to announce it three months before your big day. However, you need to do it earlier for your destination since your friends and relatives may need to arrange stuff like air tickets in advance.
Four months before
The first thing you need to confirm is your air ticket. Moreover, you will need to settle all the details about your ceremony and reception venues. You have to start sourcing for local vendors at the destination. These include transportation, decorations, catering and so on. When we talk about the caterer, you will also need to start thinking of the menu in the reception.
At this point, you will probably also order the invitations.
Two months before
You will nearly confirm all the details. At this time you will send the invitations to the guests (Remember that you have already told them your a few months before). You will also confirm and order the dress and shoes.
One month before
In this month you will mainly work on your vacation and honeymoon. You will start prepare for the clothes you may need. For example, you may need to buy swim suits if you have chosen a location near the sea. Besides, you will also settle the necessary insurance.
Two weeks before
You will need to confirm the details about the ceremony and reception. You will confirm with the DJs, decorators, caterers for all the details. You will need to clarify everything so that there will not be any misunderstanding.
One week before
If time allows, you should arrive your destination a week before your big day. You will then meet your vendors and planner. You will also pay a visit to the actual venues. If possible, you should go with the vendors so that you can make changes to your plan (if it is really necessary). The most important thing will probably be preparing for the marriage license.
On the big day
It is now your big day and you do not need to be too nervous. You should enjoy the time with your guests.
